Preview the Possibilities of Mixed Reality Technology

Mixed reality offers teachers and students an innovative way to interact with 2D, 3D, animated and audio-enriched content to foster deeper engagement and understanding. The new SMART Document Camera, mixed reality ready and designed to work with SMART’s mixed reality offering when it becomes available in spring 2011.
Mixed reality technology enables teachers and students to display enriched content by using physical objects bearing digital markers that the SMART Document Camera can read. For example, a document camera reading a flash card with a digital marker may display a 3D image of the earth's layers. The mixed reality content is displayed onto a SMART Board interactive whiteboard, where users can view and interact with it.

In spring 2011, SMART will introduce education-specific mixed reality content that is fully integrated with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. As mixed reality content becomes a more integral part of teaching and learning, the SMART Document Camera is ready to support it.
